
Trinchero Family Chardonnay features fruit from our estate and contract vineyards in some of California's top, cool-slimate coastal appellations. In 2004, the foundation for the blend was our estate in South Napa (38%), followed by Santa Barbara (25%), Lake (25%) and Monterey (12%).
WINEMAKINGAfter pressing and settling, 30% of the free run juice was barrel fermented and aged sur lie for a short period of time in predominately French oak barrels. The remaining 70% was kept in stainless steel tanks until blending to showcase the wine's inherent, bright fruit and vibrant acidity. A portion of the wine (40%) underwent malolactic fermentation for added richness.
WINEMAKER NOTES
The 2004 is certainly the most refreshing Chardonnay we have ever produced. The flavors are ripe, but not overripe, with lemon, lime, apple and tropical fruits. The mouth is both rich and well structured. It works well as an aperitif or with a meal.
